Updates to Calculator

On this page we publish updates we make to the Milez.biz calculator. Any time we add new data or we change the way the calculator works, you can
find the update here.

Use the award rate calculator to do a search on any route, or click here if you're looking for suggestions on how to use your miles

JAL international rates

We have adjusted the "base miles" for redemptions on international flights with Japan Airlines' Mileage Bank. The base miles represent the minimum required for a flight on a given route. Japan to Korea flights start at 15,000 miles for the round trip in economy, for example Osaka to Busan. Return trips between North America and Japan can be redeemed for 50,000 miles in economy and 100,000 in business class.

JAL has also introduced Award Ticket PLUS fares. These fares represent the ceiling for a given itinerary. We have included those numbers in our calculator as well.

JAL domestic rates and zones

We have added the business class rates to our JAL Mileage Bank calculator for domestic redemptions. We have also added a number of routes, that were previously not available on our calculator.

For example: Sapporo Okadama Airport to Rishiri Island.

TAP Frequent Flyer Rates Are Up-To-Date

The TAP frequent flyer program (no longer called TAP Victoria, but TAP Miles&Go) has had frequent rate changes recently. The latest ones affect the award rates for flights on TAP flights. For example, domestic flights in Portugal can be redeemed for as little as 6,500 miles round trip:

Interestingly with the TAP Miles&Go Star Alliance rates it costs less to fly from Asia to Southern Africa than from Asia to Central Africa:
- Tokyo to Johannesburg in Economy (round trip) can be redeemed for 70,000 miles.
- Whereas Beijing to Nairobi (as an example) will be 90,000 miles in economy.

AeroMexico Club Premier Update

We have just added the most recent Club Premier SkyTeam rates. AeroMexico Club Premier members can now choose to redeem during high and/or low season. High season redemption rates are about 10-20% higher.
The SkyTeam rates and the rates for AeroMexico's own flights are now the same so that all awards rates are covered by the same calculator.

British Airways Executive Club Calculator

British Airways Executive Club recently changed its award rates for partner airlines. The partner airlines include most of the oneworld carriers as well as a few others:

- Alaskan Airlines
- Air Italy
- American Airlines
- Finnair
- JAL
- Cathay Pacific
- LATAM
- Malaysia Airlines
- Qantas
- Qatar Airways
- S7
- SriLankan Airlines
- Royal Jordanian Airlines

Award tickets on all of these carriers have been devaluated a little bit.

The old award rates are still valid for British Airways, Iberia, AerLingus and Vueling. We therefore have two distinct British Airways Executive Club calculators.

Compare the two award tables with an example:
London Heathrow to JFK
Note that the partner table does not have peak and off-peak prices. In addition, short haul routes in North America (under 650 miles one-way) are redeemed with the old Zone 2 prices.

Hawaiian Sudden Devaluation

Hawaiian Airlines changed its award rates without warning a short while ago. The changes include the following main points:

- The award rates are priced on a spectrum, from a minimum rate to a maximum rate, and there are fewer award categories (the milez.biz calculator results show the lowest and highest rates).
- There is a significant spike in redemption rates, especially if you're traveling from the East Coast or your award ticket is in the higher band of the rate spectrum.
- North America is now divided into two zones an Eastern zone (New York and Boston) and a Western zone (all the Hawaiian Airlines West Coast destinations).

Alaska Update Part I

Alaska Mileage Plan has just devalued its Icelandair redemption rates. We took the opportunity to update the other Alaska partner calculators as well (American Airlines, Korean, Emirates, LAN).  We have also removed some now defunct calculators from pervious parnerships (Delta, Air France/KLM, AeroMexico).

In part II of the Alaska update we will add the other partner calculators for: Condor, Finnair, Hainan, JAL

Virgin America's Elevate program calculators have been removed since the airline was merged with Alaska Airlines.
